Hey, how’s it going? Happy? Pleased to hear it. At least one of us is. I’m stressing over here, trying to get this gig sorted. On the 23rd July, I’m hosting my first gig where I’ll be interviewing the amazing Red Mar and I haven’t quite got a sound engineer sorted. This is a nice distraction though. Plus I just went to the dump. That’s always satisfying.
Anyway, that’s enough of that. Here is my weekly selection of recent and decent songs. And this week, there are women in every track. We have Welsh women, jazz women, and folky women… all the women. Enjoy!

Mermaid Chunky - chaperone (Peach’s 2Good 2Be Remix Extended Edit)
I’ve been listening to a fair bit of Mermaid Chunky this week since they announced they were coming to good ol’ Norwich and discovered that they released this banging trance remix of chaperone back in February. It’s weird and wonderful.
The New Cut - CHRS PCKHM
The New Cut are my new favourite band this week. I love the spikey guitars, thoughtful, intentional lyrics, and, yes, the cowbell.
Adwaith - Aros Am Y Chwiban
If they’re good enough to tour with The Bug Club, they’re good enough for me! Post-punk rock from the oldest town in Wales.
Mimi Gilbert - paulina
I must check out the album this song comes from. If it’s as good and as sweet as this, it’s going to be beautiful.
Frankie Cosmos - High Five Handshake
- makes amazing playlists. I particularly loved his most recent one. Frankie Cosmos is a new one on me despite this coming from her sixth LP. Will definitely go back and listen to some more.
Mei Semones - Dumb Feelings
Glorious, intricate, interesting jazz indie. I shared one of her songs a few weeks ago but there’s lots that keeps me happy.
Wet Leg - catch these fists
I thought they wouldn’t live up to the hype, having become stratospheric after their debut. But this is infectious stuff. They really pack a punch and I’ll take the hit.
